Our unique location and place on the shore of Lake Superior has inspired us. The name Chequamegon is of Ojibwe origin. It is derived from chagaouamigoung, a French transliteration of the Ojibwe Zhaagawaamikong or jagawamikiong, meaning a "sand bar place; at the sand bar; strip of land running into a body of water".  Gather at the Sandbar and enjoy common food done uncommonly well in a beautiful lakeside settings. Meet the Chef

Patrick has joined the Sandbar crew from Rhinelander, Wisconsin where he started cooking at a bar and grill and fell in love with cooking. He earned a culinary arts degree from Nicolet College and learned the art of smoking meat and running a kitchen at CT’s Deli. Patrick was most recently the head chef of a fine dining establishment in Rhinelander. Now he’s embracing our small open kitchen at the Sandbar and loves the pressure of cooking good food people love. When Patrick isn’t in the kitchen he’s gaming, playing fantasy football and of course watching the Packers. Dave and I are excited to have his talent and experience to lead our kitchen crew to create common food, done uncommonly well.
